Residences
Forum Dança and O Rumo do Fumo introduce, in 2010, a new residence programme for creation projects - RESIDÊNCIAS NO EDIFÍCIO.
The recent move to the new location in Alcântara, EDIFÍCIO, allows the configuration of new ways of supporting the artistic creation, specifically to emerging artists.
Therefore, our proposal for this first edition is to support four dance and/or performance creation projects.
Eligibility of the project
- The project has to be presented by an emerging artist (with a maximum of 3 works presented in a professional context);
- The project has to be an original work, in its creation process and not yet premiered.

About the residences
Four residences projects selected by Forum Dança and O Rumo do Fumo.
Residences calendar:
Residence 1: 2 August to 12 September at Studio 1
Residence 2: 2 August to 12 September at Studio 2
Residence 3: 16 August to 12 September at Studio 3
Residence 4: 4 October to 14 November at Studio 2
- Grant of € 1.000 (+ accommodation and food support of €500 for non Lisbon residents) for a period of 1 month residence (residence 3) by project, and €1.500 (+ accommodation and food support of €750 for non Lisbon residents) for a period of 1,5 month residence (residence 1, 2 and 4) by project.
- Artistic support to the projects through a weekly meeting
- Promoting support, by e-mailing (1500 contacts, in dance and performing arts area, Portuguese and foreign countries); printing of 50 posters A3 international size black/white; reference in the Websites www.orumodofumo.com and www.forumdanca.pt
- Consulting in executive production (sessions in a total of 4h to be booked during the residency)
- Travel, accommodation and health care coverage are assured by the participants.

Residence working spaces:
Studio 1
- 150 m2, with black dance floor
- Audio equipment: 2 amplified speakers, mixing board, 3 microphone inputs, CD player (MP3 compatible)
- Video equipment: DVD player, TV, datashow (PC not available)
Studio 2
- 100 m2, with black dance floor
- Audio equipment: 2 amplified speakers, mixing board
- Video equipment: DVD player, TV
Studio 3
- 75 m2, with black dance floor
- Audio equipment: 2 speakers, amplifier, CD/DVD player
- Video equipment: DVD player, TV, datashow (PC not available)
Facilities:
- Kitchen with microwaves and fridge
- Bathrooms with hot shower
- Specialized Documentation Centre
- Classroom space (reservation needed)
- Wireless internet
- PC and printer available for production work
Terms
- Final public presentation, in the residence space, as an informal showing, conversation and/or workshop at 6 of September, for the residences 1, 2 and 3, and at 8 of November for residence 4
- Open rehearsal, in the framework of Edifício, at September 10 for the residences 1, 2 and 3 and at November 12 for residence 4
- Forum Dança and O Rumo do Fumo/Edifício has to be mentioned as Support
- Inclusion of Forum Dança , O Rumo do Fumo and Edifício’s logo in every project promotion material
- Videos, and other materials by the artists and/or collaborators should be provided for Edifício's Documentation Centre
Final Result
The selected projects will be announced until 31 March, 2010, by e-mail to all candidates.
Others
Artists in residence must comply with Edifício’s health and safety requirements while on the premises.
