Dancer call – video audition (3 men, 1 woman) East West Theatre Company’s Dance/Theatre creation of “Roses for Anne Teresa/Football Stories"

Requirements
Dancers should have the following:
-Professional level technique in contemporary dance (dancers with classical training are also eligible provided that they are interested in contemporary dance)
-High motivation to work with international cast and artistic team
-Interest in football and an understanding of it
-Readiness to travel and perform internationally
Dancers are required to be available for paid rehearsals and performances in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina from August 21, 2011 until October 12, 2011. This show is also expected to be performed in 2012 and specific dates will be announced at a later date. The show will also be presented at the international theatre festival MESS in Sarajevo in October along with the shows of Alan Platel, Emio Greco and others.
Audition details
Performers are required to prepare their audition package and send it to bruno(at)eastwest.ba . Audition package should include the following:
-Letter of motivation
-Curriculum vitae
-Recent photos (headshots, professional dance stills, or similar)
-Three reference contacts
-Statement of availability during the period of August 21 – October 12, 2011
-Two-minute video of a dance performance that best represents dancer’s strengths ( solo)***

About the show
‘’Roses for Anne Teresa / Football Stories’’ will explore through dance, theatre, video and music the art of football, the Beautiful Game. The strict rules meet chaos; geometry meets the wildly free movements in the simple game. What many humans describe as divine is the most accessible practice in the world.
The international dancers and actors will perform a piece that is in part a dance and in part a play about the most popular phenomenon in the world. (Haris Pasovic)
Haris Pasovic, director
The writer and director Haris Pasovic is an internationally acclaimed director and the Artistic Director of the Sarajevo based East West Theatre Company. Some of his most renowned shows include N.Williams’ Class Enemy, W.Shakespeare’s Hamlet, M. Krleža’s Europe Today, Ravel’s Bolero and many others. His theatre work has been successfully performed at internationally acclaimed festivals and venues ( Edinburgh , Singapore , St.Petersburg, Berlin , Paris , Sibiu , Amsterdam , Ljubljana , Belgrade , Napoli , South Africa etc .)

Edward Clug, choreographer
Throughout the past ten years, choreographer Edward Clug drew attention of the international audience to himself, due to his specific choreographic style. He equally succeeded in putting the Maribor Ballet ensemble on the international dancing map. The Ballet of the SNG Maribor participated in the largest theatre festivals throughout the world performing his choreographies: Europe, Asia, USA and Canada. As a choreographer Clug was invited to staged new works for the Stuttgart Ballet, National Ballet in Lisbon , National Ballet in Zagreb , Aalto Ballet Essen, and Graz Ballet. His last project was a creation for the Mariinski Ballet stars Leonid Sarafanov and Denis Matviienko. The piece is entitled Quatro and was premiered in St. Petersburg in june 2010. Quatro is nominated for the prestigious theatre awards of Russian Federation Golden Mask 2010 in the category: best performance and best chorographer. He received international awards for his choreography at the ballet and dance competitions in Varna , Moscow , Hannover and Nagoja and was awarded the highest Slovene prizes in culture for his work, the Award. His very praised performance of Radio & Juliet, had guest appearances all throughout the world. The performance appeared at the Festival of Firsts in Pittsburgh , Arts Festival in Singapore , Biarritz Festival in France, Dance Festival in Tel Aviv, Sintra Festival in Portugal , Saint Sauver at the Milan Teatro Piccolo and toured Netherlands , Belgium , Italy , and the countries of ex-Yugoslavia. Most recently, he choreographed a theatre/dance/ music show M. Krleža Europe Today directed by Haris Pasovic, produced by East West Theatre Company with some of the leading artists in the region (Miki Manojlovic, Laibach). He is currently the director of the Ballet of the Slovene National Theatre Maribor.
