Iceland Academy of Arts - Department of Theater and Dance calls for applications for a BA programme in Contemporary Dance starting fall 2012.
Applications will open January 23rd 2012 and close March 23rd 2012. Audition will be held in Reykjavík, Iceland the 10th-11th of April 2012, at Sölvhólsgata 13.
The programme
The contemporary dance programme is a three year programme and students graduate with a BA degree.
The aim of the programme is to graduate well-trained, creative and inquisitive dancers who take a critical and exploratory approach to their projects and are prepared to embark on a career in the complex, diverse and ever-changing world of contemporary dance.
Application process
Applicants are required to have completed University Entrance Examination (Icelandic “stúdentspróf”) or an equivalent programme. In addition they must have completed a preliminary dance study or a preparatory dance course.
An audition panel selects the candidates from a group of applicants who are evaluated on the basis of formal requirements, as well as an audition consisting of practical exercises, an interview and an evaluation of applicants’ portfolios. Up to 10 applicants are admitted to the programme at the end of the selection process.
