ilmoittaja: The European Festival of Contemporary Dance

Open Call for Proposals Deadline: February 28th 2011

The Silesian Dance Theatre in cooperation with European Union National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC) is seeking emerging, young artists from all over EU with dance works to be presented as part of the European Festival of Contemporary Dance, Bytom and Kraków, June 28th – July July 4th, 2011.

 How to apply

Please send an application that include:                                 1) Full name, biographical note, address

2) A short description (not more than 100 words each) of the proposed piece. It may be site specific, performed in public space or post-industrial areas – including their expected duration as well as the materials, equipment and space needed

3) Videomaterialdocumentingpreviousperformances–recordedonDVDVideo, MiniDV or VHS with a description containing the title, date and place of the
performances

4) 5 photographs documenting previous performances–indigitalform,with a description containing the title, date, place and author of the photographs.

Applications are reviewed by an international Selection Committee that includes dance and performing art leaders. EUNIC encourages proposals from artists based within EU and offers a strong international network of associates as a continued benefit of the presentation.

We try to be flexible and sometimes exceptions can be made, so don’t hesitate to contact us with any question.

Note: The organizers must receive the applications by 28 February 2011.

The materials submitted will not be returned.

The list of artists invited to participate in the festival will be announced at www.stt.art.pl

The Silesian Dance Theatre:

The Silesian Dance Theatre is a public institution dedicated to the development of contemporary dance created in 1991 by Jacek Luminski. About the Festival:

The main focus of the European Festival of Contemporary Dance is to offer a platform for presentation of dance works from young artists resident to EU; to provoke a discussion and exchange of ideas between artists and dancegoers, artists and dance writers, and between artists themselves in a particular situation provided by postindustrial environment of Silesia and juxtaposed with historic architecture of the city of Krakow.
