Open call for Absolute Flamingo
Competition for experimental flamenco performances for professional artists of all fields.
A new competition is launched for the purpose of finding and helping in the creation of new experimental flamenco performances. Flamingo -The Festival of Contemporary Flamenco is now looking for the most exciting piece of new flamenco.
The purpose is to explore the potentiality of flamenco through various ways and possibilities: to see how far the rules of traditional flamenco can be stretched.
Competition entry can represent any type of flamenco and can also contain elements from other forms of art. The winning piece will be selected on the basis of filmed applications.
As the first prize, it will then be produced by Flamingo festival to be performed on stage or any suitable venue/place in Helsinki in October 2011. The possibility of performing it in 2013 is also open.
Applications by post: on DVD-format with curriculum and technical rider before 31st of May 2011.
