K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg, Residency 2011

Support and promotion of young choreographers, training and professional development courses and the promotion of contemporary dance – these are the focal points of K3 – Zentrum für Choreographie | Tanzplan Hamburg.
For the fifth time K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg is offering three residencies within this framework to choreographers at the beginning of their professional career. Ideally, the applicants should have realised their first own works. Duration of residency will be April to December 2011 (it’s only possible to apply for this period and for the complete duration).
One of the main characteristics of the residency programme is the eight months duration, which suggests an approximate division in two phases: A first phase of about four months, offering time for research, training, and education, and a second phase which is dedicated to the creation of a production which will be performed at K3 in autumn. This duration and possible splitting in two working phases is ment to help undermining the mechanism and rhythm of the typical production mode, enforcing and opening space for a different kind of artistic research and work. Therefore it is neither necessary nor wanted that the applicant presents an elaborate proposal for a production.
The K3 Residency Programme includes:
* optional participation in the regular training at K3 – Tanzplan Hamburg
* optional participation in the course programme at K3 – Tanzplan Hamburg (production oriented and dance/performance theory classes)
* optional participation in the classes at MA Performance Studies department at the University of Hamburg
* a monthly grant
* a production budget for the project shown at K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg in autumn 2011
* an artistic mentor who will accompany each production
* support from K3 – Tanzplan Hamburg regarding dramaturgy, organisation, technical requirements and marketing.
* participation in the promotion programme of K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg
Required application material:
1. cover sheet K3 Residency: download here
2. letter of motivation (1 A4 page max), displaying the interest and expectation in the K3 Residency Programme
3. synopsis of a project plan (2 A4 pages max); including topic / research plan, it’s derivation, links to other issues and fields of art if applicable, other interests
4. tabular curriculum vitae (2 A4 pages max). Please don’t send a portrait of yourself!
5. documentation material of own projects (of 2 different projects max) such as DVD (film material only as video dvd, no data dvd please) and reviews
Please send 4 copies of your application (also 4 copies of each documentation material). Generally we don't return applications. If desired, please add a post-paid envelope (for Germany) or an international reply coupon (international) to your application.
