Call for contributions – Nordic Journal of Dance, vol. 3, 2011

Present your work in the newly founded publication Nordic Journal of Dance: practice, education and research.

The first issue of Nordic Journal of Dance (NJD) was published in March 2010, the second in January 2011. The third issue will be published during autumn 2011. The theme for this issue is “Fostering Growth: Motifs and values for the future through Dance Education.”This topic relates to ongoing discussions on the value of creative subjects in schools and aesthetic learn- ing processes, but also to the education of dance artists and teachers. In what way is dance important for the development and growth of children (and adults) and thus for our future society? What challenges and opportunities does thinking of the future offer regarding, for example, the content, method, practical realization and finances of dance education in the Nordic countries?

Nordic Journal of Dance invites practitioners and researcher to submit a variety of texts related to this theme in two cat- egories:

Research articles: NJD expects these articles to present research, findings and theoretical argumentation related to diverse dance practices and artistic processes as well as learning and teaching dance/movement in the Nordic context. The maximum length of submitted articles should be 35,000 characters (including spaces and footnotes), which is about 5,500 words or 15 pages. A list of references should be submitted as a separate document.

Practical articles: NJD expects these articles to document and reflect the work being carried out in the fields of dance and education in the Nordic countries in different artistic and educational settings as well as with different age groups. The purpose is to intro- duce the experiences and conceptions of dance practitioners and educators. The maximum length of submitted articles should be 10 pages or less, including footnotes and references.

General guidelines:

Articles can be written in English or one of the Nordic languages. Documents should be created using standard European A4 paper format, 1 cm margins on all sides and no page numbers. Type text and headings in 12 point Times New Roman font and use 1.5 line spacing. Mark references using Chicago Manual Style. For specific details on formatting and other guidelines please see www.nordicjournalofdance.com or contact Dans i Skolen (DIS) at dis(at)dansiskolen.no.

The deadline for submitting full articles and pictures is 1 May 2011.

Material should be submitted to: dis@dansiskolen.no with the following subject heading: “Contribution to Nordic Journal of Dance Vol. 3”.
