17th Annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Performance Festival
June 27th – July 10th 2010
The Silesian Dance Theatre organizes Annual International Contemporary Dance Conference and Performance Festival to strengthen the contemporary dance community in Poland stressing the intrinsic democratic values of dance. Programs and performances are designed with the intention of encouraging Polish dancers to build their own forms of expression by respecting and culling movement from personal influences, like national traditions, mentality, geopolitical setting, historical and contemporary issues.
The Conference/Festival structure is meant to give and strengthen personal facilities creating possibilities for the development of independent choreographers and companies; to build communication between members of local and international communities through the arts; to expose the values of the arts which are advantageous for the future development of economy and democracy in the country.

Dance workshops:

The Technique Programming is organized to expand and develop the various tools and dance vocabulary that individual dancers, choreographers and teachers need in order to express attitudes, thoughts, feelings, etc. in an ideally unique and creative way. The accomplishment of gaining these skills creates a sense of freedom and fluency of expression in the participants movement, motion and complex theatrical techniques which are necessary in the creation and performance of dance.
Meetings focus on intensive dance practicing in different forms (from classical dance, through improvisation, jazz, yoga to contemporary dance). Variety of styles and techniques allows participants to learn diverse dance forms and meet different teachers who are invited to cooperate (Japan, Hungary, Israel, Austria, USA, Germany, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Greece, Russia).

Little dance conference:
The classes during the Little Dance Conference are aimed at the development of the consciousness of the body by its young participants by way of improvisation.

11 th annual international integrated dance workshop:
The dance is open for everybody, it focuses on the human abilities. It moves the human body toward crossing the borders.
