The NRW KULTURsekretariat yearly offers grants for research projects in North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany).
On offer are stays of 6 to 12 weeks in a host city in NRW with the purpose of pursuing research on dance subjects in co-operation with persons, institutions and communities in NRW. The Kultursekretariat will arrange and manage for the artists contacts to cultural and science institutions, as well as to other possible contacts in the state. This offer is aimed at performing artists in the range of dance and choreography. Single persons or two persons working together with good knowledge in either German or English may apply.
The host city for Dance Research NRW #7 is Mülheim/Ruhr (partner: Ringlokschuppen), which would like to support a research on urban transformation processes. Dance Research NRW #8, taking place in Wuppertal (partner: cultural office), a significant city of art and formerly origin of the fluxus movement, should refer to the visual arts.
The period for the stay will cover September – November 2011. The residencies will end with a public presentation of the research results.
Free accomodation for one to two persons will be made available, as well as personal support both locally and throughout the land by the Kultursekretariat. Furthermore up to EUR 7,500 will be allocated depending the type and scope of the intended research.
The Kultursekretariat intends to support any performances in NRW that may eventually result from this research.
