CIRCOLO SCANDINAVO IN ROME
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS
The Nordic artists’ residence programme at Circolo Scandinavo in Rome invites applications for residencies normally of 2 months duration, but with the possibility of shorter or longer stays.
Accommodation combined with studio: The centrally located 15th-century building has five studio apartments available: four studios of 20 m2, 26 m2, 27 m2 and 32 m2 respectively, and a smaller studio apartment of 11 m2.
Shared facilities: Kitchen, dining/living room, hall (suitable for artist’s talks etc), terrace, washing machine, television (Italian channels) and telephone. All rooms have fast internet connection.
Extra facilities: Composers have priority regarding use of the separate studio with piano (J.P. Löfberg, 7 octaves). Performing musicians may not practise in the artists’ residence. A separate studio (8.5 m2) for visual artists is available. There is no proper studio for visual artists.
The programme may include an artist’s talk, a master class or a literary event, all of which are open to the general public, and other projects designed to promote Nordic artists in Italy. The programme contributes to collaboration and networking with the Italian public and culture.
Final application date for residencies during the period 1.9. 2010–31.7.2011: April 1 2010. Notification of application results will be sent out in June 2010.
Application criteria Applicants must be: Professional creative artists working in genres such as visual arts, literature, music, theatre and film.
In special circumstances, arts workers (film practitioners, translators, photographers, dancers, curators, musicians, actors etc.) may be considered.
