Helsinki Festival has a rich dance program

30.4.2012

Finland’s largest arts festival will present world premiers and mega productions. The festival also invites audiences to make their own contribution through a number of participatory art works and projects. Helsinki Festival takes place from August 17 to September 2, 2012.

A rich program of dance sees the Italian choreographer Emio Greco and the Dutch dramatist Pieter C. Scholten arriving in Finland. In La Commedia the talented performers from the EG/PC ensemble turn their attention to the business of entertainment.

Tero Saarinen Company's double bill includes a Finnish debut for Saarinen’s Vox Balaenae solo and the work for six dancers, Scheme of Things.

Film and live performances meet in Marita Liulia’s and Virpi Pahkinen’s joint premiere.

Double Exposure is a blend of new circus and modern dance by the Korean choreographer Sungsoo Ahn and the Finnish juggler Ville Walo.

Helsinki Festival continues its popular art-at-home series. This year dance can be enjoyed in the domestic sphere, with previously unseen choreographies by Reijo Kela and Leena Gustavson performed in eight homes in Helsinki.
