The Finnish born dancer and choreographer Cecilia Moisio’s (s. 1978) piece Hi! My name is… has been chosen to tour in the Netherlands. The tour is part of Theater Instituut Nederland’s Blind Date program for young theater makers.
Cecilia Moisio studied at Theaterschool in Amsterdam in 1997−2001 and has after that danced in among others Krisztina de Châtel’s group. She has also performed in choreographies by many Dutch and international choreographers. Since 2005 she has been creating also her own choreographies − at the moment in production house Dansmakers Amsterdam.
Hi! My name is… is a piece for two dancers and three musicians. It's leading theme is the human contradiction between individuality and the need to belong to a group. It uses speech as well as rap music and motion. The performers are dancers Ceclia Moisio and Erin Harty and the Finnish rap group Urbaanilegenda (Jonne Kuusisto, Ossi Valpio and Joni Vanhanen).
The piece has been supported by het Amsterdams Fonds voor de Kunsten, Fins Cultureel Instituut voor de Benelux, Stichting Imperium, SNS Reaal Fonds, VSB Fonds and WArd/waRD NL/BE. It will be performed in 14 Dutch cities during April 2011.
