The Finnish curator Virve Sutinen was chosen by an international jury as the Artistic Director for the festival Tanz im August for the festival editions 2014/15.

- I’m pleased that with Virve Sutinen we entrusted a highly acclaimed curator with the direction of our successful festival. I am looking forward to the upcoming festival editions which Virve Sutinen will shape with her sharp artistic eye.
Virve Sutinen has been the Artistic Director and General Manager of Dansens Hus Stockholm since 2008. Between 1997 and 2007, she was the head of Kiasma Theatre, and in charge of the Performing Arts Programme at Kiasma, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki.
Among other things, she also worked as Artistic Director for the Moving in November festival, the Rotation – Dance Film Festival, Helsinki, and co-directed and founded the URB - Urban Festival as well as the /theatre.now –festival in Helsinki.
From 2007 to 2013 Ms. Sutinen was the president of IETM (international contemporary performing arts network), and served as a chair for the Nordic Culture Point’s Mobility and Network Programme from 2006 to 2012. She is also a founding member of EDN (European Dancehouse Network).
