Open call for Finnish and Korean performing arts managers

Korea-Finland Connection is a co-operation programme between Korea Arts Management Service (KAMS) and Dance Info Finland aiming at developing the co-operation between Korean and Finnish performing arts managers and artistic directors, and incubating projects. TAIVEX Programme (Finnish Art Information Centres’ Training Programme for Art Exchange, www.taivex.fi) is the Finnish partner for Korea-Finland Connection. The call is now open for Korean and Finnish participants that have the interest and will to create co-operation and projects between Korea and Finland. Ten participants from each country will be chosen based on applications.

The open call is directed towards Korean and Finnish performing arts managers and artistic directors: professionals on a position to create co-operation and projects. KAMS and Dance Info Finland will make the final decision on the participants. Participants from Korea-Finland Connection 2010 can also apply. For this year’s Connection, 7 new ones and 3 previous ones from both Korea and Finland will be chosen for the programme.

As the Korea-Finland Connection aims at developing the partnerships between Korean and Finnish art organisations and artists, the methods in implementating the programme raise from sharing and exchanging ideas and information. It also aims at building long-term relationships and projects between Korean and Finnish art organisations and artists.

In addition to Korea-Finland Connection, KAMS has similar programmes with UK and USA, Korea-UK Connection and Korea-USA Connection. This enables Korea-Finland Connection to reach even further with other programmes: to find new ways of international collaboration and exchange in the changing world, where exchanging information and best practices have become an asset.

Korea-Finland Connection is realised in 2011 in three parts:

1. research phase: introduction to the participants, sharing information, exchanging ideas – Korea-Finland Connection online-forum at facebook, May-August 2011

2. study visit of the Korean participants to Finland (Helsinki, Tampere, possibly Turku) 27.8.-4.9.2011 (tbc), connecting with the Finnish participants, meetings at organisations, networking, performances (at Helsinki Festival, http://www.helsinkifestival.fi and elsewhere), seminar on Finnish performing arts scene

3. TAIVEX study visit of Finnish participants to Soul 6.-16.10.2011 (tbc), connecting with the Korean participants, meetings at organisations, networking, performances, participating Performing Arts Market Seoul, seminar on Korean performing arts scene
