Sign up for Performing HEL! Additions made to the online programme
While September is starting to look more promising what comes to hosting live events, Performing HEL decided to add a few full-length works to the event’s online program. By signing up, you can experience the program in Helsinki, online or both.
Performing HEL warmly welcomes all theatre, festival and cultural sector programmers to Helsinki in September! The showcase also has a plentiful online program that offers presenters – attending the showcase remotely – a chance to take part in the opening seminar, pitch programme, seven demo performances and to explore three pre-recorded full-length works.
Whether you are planning to travel to Helsinki or attend the event remotely, the showcase offers a great opportunity to take a look at what Finnish dance, theater and circus has to offer. Registration is now open for Finnish and international presenters.
How do Finnish and Russian Performing Arts Professionals Collaborate Despite Changing Winds?
The Performing HEL showcase will be opened on Thursday, September 2 by a seminar, which will delve deeper into the co-operation between Finnish and Russian performing arts professionals.
With closed borders, disconnection and difficulties to communicate, it is performing arts that have the capacity to find common ground. Together with performing arts professionals the seminar participants will discuss perspectives on, possibilities and case examples of collaboration with Russia: from governmental cultural institutions to freelancers. The panel will also address the economical challenges and censorship in performing arts and more generally in relation to current political realities.
The moderator of the opening seminar, Nika Parkhomovskaia is a theatre critic and researcher, producer and curator. In total she has produced several performances, organized international festivals and creative, e.g. site specific and social dance labs.
Panelists are Finnish dance artist, filmmaker, curator and dance film educator Kati Kallio, Finnish playwright-director Jari Juutinen, Russian theater critic, producer and candidate of cultural studies Oksana Efremenko, as well as the director of the Kannon Dance House and OPEN LOOK St. Petersburg International Dance Festival, Vadim Kasparov.
The Performing HEL seminar is organised in collaboration with Klockriketeatern. The event will also be streamed on YouTube.
Party like it’s Performing HEL!
Since Performing HEL is a networking event, we certainly also need to relax and celebrate together! On Saturday September 4 it’s time to party like it’s Performing HEL! We’ll tell you where and when a bit later – save the date because you’re invited.
We follow current covid restrictions and guidelines, which means that changes in the program are possible.
In 2021 Performing HEL showcase is organised by Dance Info Finland and CircusInfo Finland in collaboration with Helsinki Festival, the Finnish National Theatre, Svenska Teatern, Espoo City Theatre and Theatre Info Finland TINFO.
