Dance Theatre Auraco: The Why Mix

Young audiences

The Why Mix throws questions in the air about the meanings and interpretations of bodily movement. The Why Mix is a geometric, thrilling, colourful and partly serious mixture of contemporary dance, mime and music.

Why do they call it waving when someone is shaking a hand in the air? Why does it feel like I have bubbles in my tummy when I am happy? Why do I sometimes want to dance and then all of a sudden not?

Dance Theatre Auraco’s new dance piece The Why Mix takes all the kids and like-minded adults to a playful and exhilarating exploration where you have permission to wonder about different phenomena of movement.

The Why Mix is a geometric, thrilling, colourful and partly serious mixture of contemporary dance, mime and music. The piece ponders on children’s reduced bodily expression and movement constructions in the time of smartphones and emojis. The Why Mix’s visuality draws its inspiration from the Bauhaus style – but why?
