Helsinki Dance Theatre: Our Reality Moves — Todellisuutemme liikkuu

Contemporary dance

The themes explored by movement in Our Reality Moves —Todellisuutemme liikkuu include: the inequalities that are accentuated in our time, the concern about the rise of extremism and the consequences of this dangerous phenomenon, and the exploration of the visible and invisible borders of society.

Helsinki Dance Theatre’s latest work Our Reality Moves — Todellisuutemme liikkuu will this time be seen in Kanneltalo, Helsinki. There are two performances Friday 15th and Saturday 16th of November both at 7pm.

Helsinki Dance Theatre, an exciting and thought provoking dance company, is one of the freshest voices for contemporary dance in Finland, already creating a niche for its unique blend of ballet/modern/jazz and ethnic dance with theatrical elements. HDT is founded and directed by choreographer Val Suarez in 2016 and ever since it has paved its own path in the dance community here in Helsinki. Through its work and art, HDT wants to promote open-minded dialogue and tolerance and to engage in social debate through its works.

The themes explored by dance and movement in Our Reality Moves —Todellisuutemme liikkuu include: the inequalities that are accentuated in our time, the concern about the rise of extremism and the consequences of this dangerous phenomenon, and the exploration of the visible and invisible borders of society. The last of the three shows in the program deals with the lies that eventually led to war. Helsinki Dance Theater wants to use a language that is common to all but freely comprehensible, highlighting these difficult topics in its artistic work.

”World problems should be solved by the whole world. Why are we building walls and not bridges? Instead of boxing ourselves in and others out, we should all have the freedom to contribute. The solutions are reality now, we only need the movement.”
