Meri Pajunpää & work group: As It Burns
As it burns is a piece inspired by personal and global changes in which sound, light, movement and text turn into a vibrating conversation in the midst of chaos and order.
As it burns is a piece inspired by personal and global changes in which sound, light, movement and text turn into a vibrating conversation in the midst of chaos and order. The piece combines strong physical expression, non-linear storytelling, a rough soundscape and a creative approach to the typical roles of the viewer and performer. Flash-like story beginnings and endings open a door to the piece’s thematic world; a paradox of belonging everywhere and nowhere, the blurring of one’s own roots as well as the presence of past generations’ experiences in our lives.
