OuDance Festival | Kinetic Orchestra: I’m Liquid
I´m Liquid is a contemporary dance work that turns people into water. This piece is all about movement and movement qualities.
Founded in Finland in 2009, Kinetic Orchestra is a Helsinki-based contemporary dance company directed by choreographer Jarkko Mandelin. Kinetic Orchestra’s mission is to create fascinating, high-end and easily accessible dance art. The company’s annual schedule consists of dance piece productions, touring in Finland and abroad, and giving dance workshops often organized in parallel with performance events.
I´m Liquid is a contemporary dance work that turns people into water. This piece is all about movement and movement qualities. While Kinetic Orchestras previous works have been more dance theatre with kids, animals and satiric approach I´m Liquid concentrates to look for new angle on “how to move better and more fluently”. Frame for these questions are set with costumes that have martial art belt attach to costume. This extra handle gives a lot of new possibilities to lift, carry and create illusion that almost looks like dancers are cheating the gravity.
Music is inspired by shopping center bossa nova, that creates ironic but essential mood for the whole work.
