TaikaBox: Out of Urgency
Four countries, six dancers and one earth!
How do we collaborate in a post-viral society?
Out of Urgency is a performance that takes place in four countries simultaneously, with 6 dancers sharing the stage using live-streaming technology. The work explores feelings about: Climate change – Globalisation – Living and dancing on the Northern edge of Europe – Industrialisation of natural resources – Changes in behaviour of migratory birds – Man-made communities – Loss of human connection – Covid-19. How do we stay present and support each other in these times?
Out of Urgency was initiated by Dansinitiativet from Luleå, Sweden. It is part of their three-year project. The piece was created in collaboration with nine partners from Northern Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia. The original idea was to create four separate pieces – one in each country –that would tour together across the Barents region.
Due to Covid-19 the plan changed and the partners created a joint performance that combines six dancers and four audiences in four different locations using Online Connected Studios System. TaikaBox acts as an artistic and technical director and mentor in the project.
Audiences in TaikaBox Studio are limited to 10 people per performance due to the Coronavirus restrictions.
Please bring your own mask with you and wear it throughout the performance.
