Residency collaboration in Japan
Dance Info Finland and the Finnish Institute in Japan are collaborating in opening residency opportunities for Finnish dance artists in Japan.
Artist-in-residence programs are an increasingly important form of international collaboration and networking. During 2017 Dance Info Finland and the Finnish Institute in Japan are looking for new partnerships for the upcoming years in Japan and in Finland.
The first residency program was realized in collaboration with the Art Museum in Kôchi in autumn 2016. Two artists were selected for the residency: dancer-choreographer Virva Talonen and light designer Nanni Vapaavuori. The artists spent 5 weeks in Kôchi in October and November and performed their work done together with local artists on the Day of Culture on 3rd of November. The selection was made by the Art Museum in Kôchi, Dance Info Finland and the Finnish Institute in Japan.
