The Ice Hot Nordic Dance Platform takes place in Helsinki from June 29 to July 3, 2022. The four-day industry event presents Nordic contemporary dance to almost 300 international presenters with a program including 150 artists from Nordic countries. The program consisting of full-length performances, artist pitches and seminars, will spread around the city: from the stages of the newly opened Dance House Helsinki to the premises of the Cable Factory, Alexander’s Theater and the National Theater in Vallila.

As a volunteer you’ll be invited to take a peek behind the scenes of a major international event production! The tasks do not necessarily require previous experience in the field, but interest in the practical tasks of event production is sufficient. We value a people-oriented, fair and reliable approach. Please note that the language of the event is English.

We offer tasks to volunteers in three different areas:

Customer service: In this task, you’ll work at the information desk of the event at the Cable Factory (Kaapelitehdas) or in the lobby areas of other venues, guiding and advising the audience. Customer service tasks may also include tasks related to the artist hospitality on the backstages of the venues. In these tasks you’ll meet international guests and artists of the event!

Technical Production: As a volunteer, you assist professionals in a variety of tasks related to the construction and demolition of the event and performances. Tasks may include e.g. stacking and unloading pallets, props, chairs. This is a great place to gain practical skills and get to know how to build performances on stage!

Communication: Are you interested in creating content on social media or event photography? As a communications volunteer, you get to try both. The work is done in a guided manner, but it also requires independent approach at the venues.

Volunteering is carried out under the guidance of production professionals. Tasks include a brief introduction before the event. Shifts last four hours at a time, on 2-4 event days. The work will take place between 9 am and 10 pm. The event is organized by Dance Info Finland, which has insured the volunteers for the duration of the event.

Volunteers will be offered 1-2 performance tickets to the event as well as free admission to the Theater Museum during the event. On working days, volunteers are provided with a warm meal. It is possible to obtain a certificate for volunteering.

Got interested? Fill out the application here by Sunday, April 17th. We will be in touch with everyone by the end of April.
