Artist-in-Garden-Residence at Hellerau (Germany)

HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts in Dresden is calling for artists from the performing arts to apply for a 3-6 week residency that will investigate the relationships between nature, environment and art.

Questions about the state and the future of the planet, as well as one’s relationship to the environment, are increasingly becoming a focus of artistic works. Within the framework of this residency, a research question can be developed, an already existing topic can be deepened, or a concrete discussion can take place. In this way, new perspectives on the topic and broad social discourses can be developed and made accessible via an artistic practice.

HELLERAU’s Kulturgarten offers an unique opportunity as a place of inspiration. Workshops, performances, concerts and festivals take place in the Kulturgarten. The results of the residence will be presented to the public in form of a workshop or try-out in HELLERAU.

Artists in residence will be accompanied dramaturgically and networked with partners from Dresden’s science and urban communities, according to their interests. They will also receive:

Accommodation for the duration of the residency.
Access to office space and Kulturgarten HELLERAU.
250€ per person per week.
Technical support according to needs and by arrangement.
Support for material costs, by arrangement.
Travel expenses.
The residency should be undertaken between May and July 2020.

Deadline: 21 December 2019
