’This workshop invites artists with an interest in furthering and fostering their own practice and with openness to movement- and material based experiments.

We begin the day considering our personal and current “lines of flight” and “matters of concern”, defining threads we wish to follow in this workshop and potentially beyond. I will guide us through a way of working that appreciates and integrates the liveliness of matters of all kinds, building an explorative container in which individual threads can be artistically explored.

We will work mainly indoors but please also bring clothing that keep you warm outside for at least one hour.

I am interested and committed to meeting and practically engaging with the thresholds of idiosyncratic and sometimes isolated artistic working practices and the question of how they/we relate to each other and how all of it correlates with our ways of living daily life.

This workshop is based on many years of intensive movement and research practice. It draws among other sources on the movement practice Amerta Movement.

The workshop is free of charge, lunch takes place at Kiasma café at everyone’s own expenses.’

Dr. Paula Kramer
In my work as a movement artist and researcher my main focus is on intermateriality and material intensities. How do materials of different orders meet to create choreography / movement / art / life? How can the wisdom of our material bodies participate in processes of creation?

In my research and performance work I deal with very specific environments and movement practices, but tend to push these specificities wide open into existential concerns and dealings with life more generally, as well as questions around artistic practice and development.

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Artistic Research (CfAR), University of the Arts Helsinki. I have an M.A. in Political Science from the Free University of Berlin (2005) and a practice-as-research PhD in Dance from Coventry University (2015). I am part of the editorial board of the Journal of Dance and Somatic Practices, a founding member of AREAL (Artistic Research Lab Berlin) and part of the research team of ADiE – Artistic Doctorates in Europe I am based in Berlin.
