Fondation d’entreprise Hermès: New Settings (France)

ILMOITTAJA: FONDATION D’ENTREPRISE HERMÈS
13.5.2020

With its annual New Settings programme, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès supports the creation and distribution of new performance works.

Chosen projects all feature crossovers of one kind or another: playing on the porosity of the border between performing arts and visual arts, creators experiment with original and unusual forms.

The New Settings programme is open to emerging and more established French and international artists. It supports hybrid performing arts projects rooted in potent dialogue with the visual and/or digital arts. The programme supports productions exploring innovative audience engagement and interaction, at the crossroads of artistic vocabularies and disciplines. Often, the supported projects take a fresh approach to the theatrical environment, developing new ways to make use of the space of the stage, objects, sound and the body.

In response to the Covid-19 health crisis and following the exceptional confinement circumstances in France and abroad, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès wishes to continue its commitment to supporting artists and their creative work. A special attention will thus be given to lighter, more mobile and dynamic scenic propositions with an important potential to evolve, should these constitute a significant stage in the creation of a larger and more developed body of work. These types of proposals, also in line with visual arts, should be considered by the artist(s) as work that can be presented to the general public.

In practical terms, support from the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès is targeted in two stages:

Selected projects receive support during the production stage, enabling artists to realise their project. Funding is disbursed to the performing company, or to their executive producer.
Selected projects are supported for the staging of their production during the 2021-22 season, in Paris and the Paris region. Funding is disbursed to the programme’s partner cultural institutions, who work with the producers and the Foundation to finalise performance dates, from September 2021 to June 2022. Each production is highlighted as part of the New Settings programme.

Deadline: 1 July 2020
