Open call for Finnish choreographers

The National Center of Contemporary Arts, Yekaterinburg is searching for 3 Finnish choreographers for participating to the Laboratory of contemporary dance “Game rules” 10.8-20.8.2016.
The National Center of Contemporary Arts in Yekaterinburg is Ural federal area’s biggest contemporary art sphere for exhibitions, educational projects, residences, workshops of the artists and laboratories on contemporary theater and dance.
Ural region has one of the richest variety of legends and mythical histories in Russia. The National Center of Contemporary Arts in Yekaterinburg and Bazov Fest aim to provide artists a platform for getting to know the mythical history of the Ural and bringing mythology to life in the form of new dance pieces in 3 areas:
- Dance film
filming a dance on the topic of Ural myths in the urban space
- Dance for an exhibition space + contemporary academic music
in collaboration with InterText encemble of Ural State Conservatory
- Site-specific street performance
creating a performance that will take place on the Iset river embankment and NCCA yard
The results of the laboratory will be presented to a wide public on 20.8.2016 on a City Day as a part of Bazov Fest.
The laboratory will be organized in cooperation with dancers, performers, video operators, musicians, composers and artists from Yekaterinburg.

Before applying for participation, we kindly ask you to consider your time realistically, and be ready to participate all events of the laboratory.
Conditions of participation:
– Participants will be provided with accommodation and all needed technical support
– All travel and visa costs will be covered
– Performing fee shall be negotiated separately after the decision making of the programme
