Pier-2 Artist-in-Residence Programme 2021 (Taiwan)
The Pier-2 Artist-in-Residence Programme (PAIR) is run by Pier-2 Art Center, a harbourside facility in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
For 2021, the organisers have given ‘Ocean: The Dark Side’ as the annual theme. They hope to reconsider the infinite possibility of the ocean and its ports in relation to the city and to art. PAIR wants to work with artists to dive into the deep dark, to touch upon unknown oceanic agendas in more depth, and to come to better know themselves during the process of research and art practice.
The residency lasts 60-90 days, and will take place between 1 March 2021 and 31 December 2021.
PAIR offers:
Round-trip flight in economy class.
Living allowance of 500 NTD (~15 EUR) per day.
Materials fee of maximum 35,000 NTD (~1050 EUR).
Accommodation.
A studio for work.
Artists from all over the world are invited to apply.

Pier-2 Art Center is a cross-domain art center where is the most iconic modern art stage in Southern Taiwan and is devoted to the cultivation of potential artists and designers. Following the tradition of the past industries such as commercial harbor, iron, and steel, shipbuilding, Pier-2 Art Center holds activities related to these industries’ characteristics.
By receiving artists from all over the world and from the different domain, Pier-2 Artists in Residence program was established in 2015, which aims to bring in more infinitely creative and experimental works and strengthen the artistic spirits in the extreme.
