Simon Mayerin tanssityöpaja Tallinnassa
Workshop: Simon Mayer ”TRADITION REMIXED” 9-12 January 2017 at 10am-13pm at Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava Tallinn
Workshop is open to all people, who wish to enrich their expression by combining traditional dance with contemporary dance. People with no or various movement and stage experiences are welcome!
”The Schuhplattler is more than just a traditional courtship dance from the Alpine region and should no longer be only reserved for men. So how can we change it? We will learn traditional Schuhplattler, invent new ones and enrich it with related forms such as body percussion, contemporary dance, improvisational elements and ritual practices, without losing the fun and group dynamics of folk dances.
But it is not only the Schuhplattler! We experiment with yodeling, Juchatzen, traditional clapping rhythms (Paschen) and whipping! Same here: we will learn the traditional form and combine it with other elements. In the workshop technical, spiritual and ritual aspects as well as healing approaches of these traditions are taught.”
! ! ! For participants attending the whole workshop, we provide a free entrance to Simon Mayer’s performance ”Sons of Sissy” at Vaba Lava on the 14th or 15th January.
Simon Mayer’s “Mixed Tradition” takes place thanks to the support and collaboration of Sõltumatu Tantsu Lava, Vaba Lava Theatre Centre, Cultural Endowment of Estonia and INTPA.
