Do you want to expand your artistic work to locations other than the traditional auditorium? Do you want to explore how audiences can become participants and co-creators, based on a specific site ?

The course Site and participant is aimed at those who wish to create encounters and meeting places in interaction with the site and the landscape together with other artists and who wish to explore how audiences and visitors can become participants and co-creators in such an artistic work.

The course is aimed at those who are artists in theatre, opera, dance, circus, performance, visual arts, directing, drama, music, lightand sound design, set design and costume design. You should have a degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts or equivalent professional experience in the area. The main language of instruction is English and the course is at second cycle level.

How can we create meeting places and artistic expressions that are based on the site and its landscape and people? How can audiences and visitors become participants or co-creators in such a process?

What does this mean for the artist’s work? What does this mean for the site?

What ethical questions and discussions does this entail?

These are some of the questions that the course examines and addresses.

The teaching is done through workshops, lectures, seminars, discussion-based seminars, literature studies and supervision.

The course includes both independent work and collaboration in groups.

The course is a reworking of the three courses on the theme of Encounter that Uniarts has given in 2018-2019: Encounter – Site event participants, Encounter – Performing Arts and Landscape and Encounter – Create for and with participants.

Sara Erlingsdotter, is the teacher responsible for the course. Within the course you will meet other teachers with expertice in performing arts as well as landscaping.
