Taiteilijaresidenssi Grönlannissa
Artist-In-Residence in Nuuk – The Capital of Greenland
Nuuk Art Museum is now, with support from Nordic Culture Point and NAPA – The Nordic Institute in Greenland, able to offer an Artist-In-Residence Programme hosted at the museum.
The grand contains:
– A plane ticket from your home to Nuuk and back
– 6000DKK (app. 800 EURO) to cover food and materials
– A furnished room at approx. 8 sq. m. in the Center of Nuuk, housed at Nuuk Art Museum. You share bath, toilet, kitchenette, balcony and a 15 sq. m. working/living room with another artist. The museum has two rooms and one room is expected to be inhabited by Greenlandic artists, while the other room will be used for the residency program.
– Opportunity to make connections to the cultural life in Nuuk through Nuuk Art Museum and NAPA – The Nordic Institute in Greenland
Requirements and what we expect in return:
-You have to be a practicing artist (in broad terms) – musician, writer, visual artist, performer, or the like
-You have to live in a Nordic or Baltic country
-You have to apply to live at the residency for 1.5 – 2 months
Your art has to be able to be accommodated in the framework ‘Nuuk Art Museum’. A large classical theatre play, as an example, will be hard for us to house, however an acoustic concert, visual art, poetry or similar smaller projects will be possible for us to accommodate.
Artists without previous cooperation with Greenland is prioritized, as the programme is made to make new connections and networks
During your stay you need to plan a form of workshop or other interaction with the local population. This could for instance be a small course at Greenland’s Art School, creating evening classes at Nuuk Art Museum, a children’s workshop, or teaching at the high school. As an institution we will help you make connections, but it is crucial that you have an interest in this part of the agreement.
To the extent possible, you have to leave a piece of art or an item to Nuuk Art Museum’s collection, which is a product of your stay
Deadline: 14 November
